NSW GREAT ARTESIAN BASIN

PROJECTS

The Great Artesian Basin is one of the largest underground freshwater resources in the world. It lies below 25% of NSW, supporting a population of over 200,000. There are 8,000 bores tapping the Great Artesian Basin across NSW, however many of these are experiencing uncontrolled leakage.

The NSW Great Artesian Basin bore and cap pipe program aims to improve drought resilience by capping inefficient bores and installing new bores and piping infrastructure.
